Recommended Albums: July 2022

This is way late, and I apologize that the blog has been so quiet lately. Need to get better at getting stuff up here. Anyways, I listened to a lot of albums from the last month, a lot of them pretty good. While putting in the tags for this post, I realized WAY more than half the artists I’ve mentioned in some fashion below are first-timers. Always spreading outward! Either way, lots of charming, lovely and enriching music to find from July, in case you missed it.

The A’s – Fruit [Psychic Hotline]
Sitting around a campfire at dawn are your dear companions, and spirits of travelers’ past are kindled in the crackling embers to teach you songs.

Arve Henriksen & Kjetil Husebø – Sequential Stream [Smalltown Supersound]
A field of flowers sprout striations of clouds into a rosy pink sky.

Bruno Berle – No Reino Dos Afetos [Far Out]
An ultimate, unblemished warmth that cascades over the entire body, much like a ray of sunlight.

Chat Pile – God’s Country [The Flenser]
Waking up from nightmares to find your apartment flooding with blood, guts and other entrails spilling from every drain and faucet.

Florist – Florist [Double Double Whammy]
A rainy day spent flipping through photo albums, reading old diary entries and listening to the pockets of birds singing in between showers.

Lil Silva – Yesterday Is Heavy [Nowhere Music]
Wandering through a foggy, labyrinthian cityscape, trying to find your way home but running into key figures from your life along the way.

Moor Mother – Jazz Codes [Anti]
Fully physically immersed in a collective memory, manifested into a pseudo-physical space through intense concentration, emotion and passion.

Sam Prekop & John McEntire – Sons Of [Thrill Jockey]
Watching fleets of hot air balloons lift off into the sky and float around, slowly becoming illuminated like engorged fireflies in the night sky.

Tallies – Patina [Kanine / Hand Drawn Dracula]
A lovesickness so severe it feels as though your ribs will crack from heart swelling, a feeling of an invisible hand reaching inside of you and wrenching your soul to yearn extra fiercely.

Wilder Maker – Male Models [Western Vinyl]
Listening to strangers’ stories from the bar below your apartment and crafting larger tales around them.
