The second in my Sun Araw worship playlist series zones into his more blown-out, hectic and deeply psychedelic tendencies. Whereas the last playlist went into more happy, dubby and sweetly psych textures, this one digs deeper into more guitar freakouts, prog explorations and darkness overall. To give you an idea of how long some of these freakouts go: this is my longest 25-song playlist to date. Longer than my ambient playlist, at that!
This playlist also features some of the artists, or at least moments, that have come the closest in my search to find music that’s as similar to Sun Araw 08-12 output. This includes tracks from Dissolve’s 1996 record Third Album for the Sun, Miles Davis’ Dark Magus, a bit of Bardo Pond, and others. This thing gets dense, and FUN.
I hope you enjoy listening! This playlist also features two all-time Sun Araw tracks, so at the very least I hope you enjoy those.
