The second playlist in my manic 2010s garage rock explosion from the summer of 2026 is Another Town, Another Life, a collection of songs that’s kind of split up into two parts, bifurcated by an in-universe death. A more punky and noisy first half gives way to a more jangly and goth-touched second half, giving the illusion that even trying to escape your life in its current form, trapped in suburbia and yearning for rebellion, will just bring you to another suburb, with new things to be rebelling against. Death in that way is a bit romantic. Maybe? Maybe not and it’s all just songs.
