Favorite Songs of March, April and May

Hey all,

As some of you know I started to do a series of “Favorites of MONTH” which abruptly ended at February. Well, I just thought I’d post some favorites from the past three months that might make you a few months nostalgic or remind you of some great music you might of missed.
Also, some of these songs did not come out this year. Some I discovered or really got into in that month. Hence why I said “Favorites” instead of “Best.”
Woo.

New mp3 & Video: Yeasayer – “Longevity”

Yeasayer has a new, downloadable song called “Longevity” out from their upcoming full length entitled “Fragrant World.” Pretty sure this is the first Yeasayer where there’s strings, which I absolutely love. The whole thing has a futuristic yet desert nomad sound to it, which is awesome. Watch the video below, as well as download that sucker!

Beat the heat today! Stay inside if you can and enjoy air conditioning! Listen to this! Or Purity Ring’s new song. Or both. They’re both great. Just don’t die in this heat!

New mp3: Purity Ring – “Fineshrine”

Purity Ring has unleashed another song called “Fineshrine” from their upcoming debut LP “Shrines.” This song definitely has the “Purity Ring” ambiance with that signature synth wave and pitch-bent backing vocals that characterizes their songs. But this band is just so amazing they manage to take all these familiar sounds and turn them into something totally new. Lemme just say I am elated that their LP is coming out soon.

Listen below as well as download the song!

New: Dirty Projectors – “Dance For You”

Well what do we have here at midnight?
A new Dirty Projectors song, off their upcoming album “Swing Lo Magellan!”

It definitely doesn’t have the same vibe as their previous track “Gun Has No Trigger” but it’s definitely Projectorsesque, which makes sense (which also means its good)! Enough of my incoherent rambling, I’m pretty tired. Listen to it below via Youtube.

Have a great day!

Album Stream: Fiona Apple – “The Idler Wheel…”

FANTASTIC.

Well folks, here it is. The newest album from Fiona Apple. After getting hooked on Apple’s amazing voice and songs after hearing the song “Criminal” I had to get more. I collected all I could, then realized she halted her public musical production in 2005 after “Extraordinary Machine.”

But now, after seven years of painful waiting, it’s finally here. Stream Apple’s newest album “The Idler Wheel…” on NPR HERE

Have a fantastic day!

Radical Tracks: Frank Ocean & Tomas Barfod

These two tracks have been buzzing in my head for the past two days, so I decided to drop everything and post them here, in an attempt to share the bliss that these two songs create in your temporal lobes. Seriously. These songs are great, plus they’re both free downloads! Get on that, folks!

Frank Ocean – Pyramids

Tomas Barfod – November Skies (ft. Nina Kinert)

Watch Killer Mike’s Awesome, NSFW Video for “Big Beast”

Hey y’all,

This right here, is one of my favorite things of the year. It’s so good, that my last sentence rhymed. What’s good about this video here? Well, for starters the song is incredible: one of my favorite songs of the year along with one of the most motivating songs on my exercise playlist.

Another plus is that it’s modeled off of the movie “Drive,” among many other old-school convenience store robbery action movies. It also has zombie strippers, a sweet car chase, Reagan masks, El-P, and Killer Mike being awesome as ever. The cinematography is wonderful, every detail of the video is well-crafted, and it’s cool as hell. Definitely give this one a watch. It’s NSFW by the way, so watch out for that.

Have a beast day?
Well, I mean, have a good day. Yeah.

New: Fiona Apple – “Anything We Want”

Today is a great day!

First a new Grizzly Bear song, which you can listen to here and now a new Fiona Apple song! The song features a strong piano line with an equally strong Fiona Apple, amidst clattering, kitchen-inspired percussion. With this song, Werewolf and Every Single Night Apple’s upcoming album The Idler Wheel is Wiser Than the Driver of the Screw and Whipping Cords Will Serve You More than Ropes Will Ever Do is looking like it’s going to be one of my favorite releases of the year. Listen to “Anything We Want” below.

Have a wonderful day!

New: Grizzly Bear – “Sleeping Ute”

Well kids,

Grizzly Bear has put out a new song called “Sleeping Ute” from their upcoming, untitled album. The most striking thing about this song is the guitar, the way it unabashedly cuts through a forest of percussion and other noises floating into the atmosphere. It’s a triumphant return to a much beloved band. I can see why Ed Droste, one of the members of the band also probably the most vocal on Twitter, is so excited about it. New Mixtape: Clams Casino Instrumental Mixtape #2

Possibly my favorite beatsmith of all time, Clams Casino, has released the second installment of his instrumental mixtape series, featuring many instrumentals of the great songs off of LIVELOVEA$AP like “Palace,” “Bass” and “Wassup.” My favorite cut off of this mixtape would definitely be the instrumental remix of the XV song “Swervin’.” It’s free to download, so I highly recommend getting on that. Also if you don’t know Clams Casino, a great track to introduce himself to you, “I’m God” is below, which is also featured on this mixtape.

Have a dope day!
