Album Stream: Frankie Rose – “Interstellar”

Another album stream? You kidding me? Nah man, it’s awesome!

This here is Frankie Rose’s new album, “Interstellar,”which, according to a few  sources, centers more around upbeat synth driven pop with a fair amount of guitar melodies thrown in as well. Her past outfits included Dum Dum Girls and Vivian Girls, two lo-fi femme fatale groups, so one would think that she would pursue that kind of sound. NOPE! This is gonna be awesome, folks!

Stream it at Spin

Yeah dude, album streams are cool.

Album Streams – Tennis & Phèdre

Stop being sad! It’s a Tuesday! Well yeah, I’d be sad on a Tuesday too because it’s my busiest day of the week. BUT, we have two album streams that came out today by some pretty cool cats, so that might redeem an entire day of badness.

First up we have Tennis’ new LP, “Young and Old” produced by Patrick Carney of The Black Keys. We’ve already heard “My Better Self” and “Origins,” so check out the rest if you enjoyed those. Actually, listen to it now, because Tennis rocks. Seriously. I’m on my first listen and this is one of the happiest albums I’ve heard in a while. Get on that. Stream at Gorilla vs. Bear.

Next we have the groovy group Phedre that had music sites, with the exception of mine, drooling over their jamming song & sticky video “In Decay.” Maybe I wasn’t comfortable with the amount of honey or whatever goop they were pouring on themselves in the video so the song doesn’t have the best associations in my mind. HOWEVER, I might really like the album and maybe YOU will too! You should listen!

Have a great day!

New MP3: Cities Aviv – “Flex Your Gold”

One of my favorite rappers from last year, Cities Aviv, has come out with a new, drugged out, distorted jam called “Flex Your Gold” which you can stream at his Bandcamp right now or download it on Mediafire. The track is rather slowed down and features a mellow beat that screams Ford & Lopatin, only underneath a sheet of colored plexiglass. Hit it up, kids!

Have a golden day!

New: The Shins – “September”

The first song we heard off of The Shins’ newest album, was an invigorating shock back into the Shins dusty catalog. This newer song & the b-side to the first song, “Simple Song,” is slower and more relaxed. Still a pretty good groove, though. Stream it below!

Have a nice day!

Stream Die Antwoord’s new album “Ten$ion”

Welp

Here’s the new album from South African hip-hop/rave/zef group Die Antwoord for you to stream this week, because I know that you wanted something really strange after that great Super Bowl weekend. No really though, this thing goes to even weirder levels compared to their last album in 2010, $0$. Stream it at 3voor12. I just want to let you know, before you listen, be careful. It’s really weird.

Have a nice day!

New Video: Neon Indian – “Fallout”

Woo! New Neon Indian video!

This time it’s directed by Adult Swim animator Lilfuchs, who looks like he has something to do with Adult Swim’s Superjail or something. Anyways, it’s a crazy homage to 80’s cartoons and commercials, featuring a woman with HUGE breasts, pink hair, a rad ride, some male minions and a funny ending. I’d check this thing out. Mmmm… Tastes like the 80’s.

Have a radical day!

New Video: M.I.A. – “Bad Girls”

It’s an all sorts of badass kind of morning!

First we had the Neon Indian video now this? Excellent. Well, this video is as badass as the song “Bad Girls,” and it features sort of dance numbers. The reason I say “sort of” is because the dancers are cars. Drifting everywhere, driving on their sides, people hanging out of the cars onto the streets. WOW. This thing is so cool, such a good job editing this thing. WATCH IT BELOW, or be seriously disappointed with your life by not watching the video.

AWWWW YEAAAAHHHH

New: Julia Holter – “In the Same Room”

Crazy stuff today!

This really sets high expectations off on the crazy yet genius meter of the year. What we have here is a track from Julia Holter, a solo act that has plenty of classical voice training under her belt as well as a knack for creating lush, electronic soundscapes to house her pristine voice. This one isn’t as off the wall as some of her others, but it’s still a damn fine song. Sweet as sugar vocals with icy, yet inviting, textures all around it. Delectable indeed. Check it out below!

New: Deerhunter – “Curve”

It’s always a good day when the first thing I see online is having to do with Deerhunter. They have a new song out for Blonde Redhead’s Japan benefit compilation, We are the Works in Progress. Even though the track is instrumental and doesn’t feature Bradford Cox’s vocals, it’s still a nice, ambient buildup that pays off in the end. But seriously though, it could use some Cox up in here. That would make it.

Have a nice day!
