Getting deeper into September and Garage Rock Summer 2026 and still no end in sight (spoiler alert: next week is the last playlist of Garage Rock Summer 2026). This time we’re zoning back around to sounds previously heard on the first playlist in the series, Temporary Heatstroke, with focus on some of the more surf rock + slacker rock elements in the genre.

Not really much more to say than that – it’s some really fun, jangly, loose rock n roll here. I tried to go for a little bit of a Twin Peaks angle, like spending the summer at the Great Northern Hotel, or working at the Double R Diner. Then I thought about a summer job that turns into something else entirely, and takes you into the far reaches of space, to alternate versions of Earth, and all that.
